I spent last night at the Relay for Life of Tipton County as part of the Sole Sisters team. We were there to bring awareness for prostate cancer, to remember those who lost their battle against cancer, celebrate the lives of those who have or are still battling cancer and to fight back against the disease. It was truly an amazing night.
Seeing the sea of purple survivor shirts walk their lap to start out the night was very powerful. These are people that have survived! They are our honored guests and are one of the main reasons we are out there all night long. It made me very thankful to be a part of this event.
I really want to say thank you to the great team that I was a part of. Every single member was amazing and did such a great job. To see a group of people come together to work on something that is so meaningful just makes me so happy. I have thought about this all day long and maybe it’s just because I am sleep deprived or maybe it is just because they are just so awesome but I have gotten weepy about it!
Someone who I really want to give a shout out to is my uncle Travis and his crew who cooked dinner for our team and some burgers and hot dogs for us to sell. This was appreciated SO much!!
Staying up all night is hard to do, especially when the temps drop like they did and the wind was oh so cold but we did it and we survived! There is a reason Relay for Life is an overnight event. I posted about it awhile back. Most of us stayed awake all night and tried to stay warm bundled up under blankets and drank hot coffee but some did have to take little power naps. My youngest son really tried to stay away but by 3, he was done.
Here are some more random shots that were taken throughout the night:
I am so proud of everyone that came out to be a part of our team and all of the other teams that were there. I want to thank everyone who supported Relay for Life of Tipton county through your donations, prayers and attendance. I look forward to next year!
