When Mr Ladd contacted me and asked me to read his book, I immediately said yes because I wanted to learn more about what my friends and family members who are Marines go through. I figured it would help me understand them more. While I did gain some knowledge about what it takes to be a Marine and some of the issues our service men and women face, there was more to it. The point of the book is to tell how his Christian walk tied in to his life as a Marine but at times it was confusing to me. I continually had to go back and re-read a section to fully understand what he was talking about…and at times, I never really did get it. Not sure if it was due to my lack of knowledge of some of the military terms, which he did try to explain, or just my not understanding how he was describing things but I often felt lost.
