The kids really enjoyed this LOUD project and they will always remember this lesson! Enjoy the pictures!

Well, the Olympics are over so we are back to working on our regular school subjects. We had a great time studying the Olympics! The kids will finish their lapbooks this week and then I will post the pictures. They have to finalize their medal charts and the closing ceremony info.
Today, we added our regular English lessons to our schedule. We are using Rod & Staff. Andrew did very well with writing his title and answers. He is a very smart little boy!
Tomorrow we have picture day for the MHEA yearbook. I can not believe I did this but I let them pick out their own clothes! What was I thinking? LOL Actually, I told them that since the picture went in the yearbook, they were the ones that would have to live with how it looked so they better pick something that they will be proud of. I am sure they will be fine.
We will have our family portrait taken in November with Emily Peyton Cook. She is partnering with the Junior Auxiliary of Covington-Tipton County to do portraits as a fundraiser for JA. I am looking forward to it! We will use the photos in our Christmas cards.
Did I say Christmas???!!! Believe it ot not, it is 4 months from today! Andrew has already been talking about what he wants for Christmas…..oh my!
Well, that is all for now. Hopefully, I can pop in tomorrow and give an update.

Alex and Andrew had belt testing in Taekwondo on Tuesday & Wednesday. Alex was testing for low green belt and Andrew was testing for his yellow belt. They take taekwondo through Christ First Ministries at our church. Both of them did very well and were able to earn their next level belts. Here are some pictures:

Not only do they learn Taekwondo, they have to memorize scripture and recite it at their testing. Here is the video of Andrew reciting his verse. The sound isn’t that great so I will translate: 2 Timothy 1:7 - For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

Part of Alex’s testing was to break a board. Here is the video:

I am obviously very proud of both of them!

Is that the question really??? I really do want to keep my blog up to date but never really seem to find the time to do it. I feel like the only “down” time I get is when I am sick…. Am I complaining? No….just making a statement. I actually have a fantastic life. I love being wife and mommy. Would I like it if there was more Christie time? Of course! I figure, I will get more of that special time alone when all of the kids graduate and move out. Of course then I will have other things to worry about…..college, weddings, grandkids, etc. Oh well, maybe I will get to rest when I am 70 If I make it that long!

Thanks for coming by to read about my life. Come back soon!

Today was our first official day of the new school year. If all of the days are like today was then we are gonna have a great year!

We started our study of the Olympics and will continue throughout the month. There are so many websites that have worksheets and info about the Olympics so we will have plenty to do! We checked books out of the library and will be reading them to increase vocabulary, reading skills and knowledge of the Olympics.
Amy did her math without argument today and I was extremely proud of her! She even commented later that she had done her work without talking back and I said “see how much easier school gets done when you just do it without fighting?”. Hopefully she will realize that and we will have more peace during school time this year than we had last year. I want my kids to be successful in everything they do. I don’t expect them to BE the best at everything but to DO their best in everything.

More good news! The puppy that we have been trying to find a home for will have a family on Saturday! The Belly Rubs Bassett Rescue found her a family! Even though she is a bloodhound, they knew someone that wanted one and so will be taking her to her new people on Saturday. Please visit their web site at www.bellyrubs.org and think about adopting a furry family member or in helping to fund their great organization.

Have a great week! I look forward to posting more later.

Let’s play a memory game. I got this from my friend’s blog….for some reason I am unable to add links tonight so if you wanna visit her blog, click on the Keeping Up with the J’s link to the side.

Here are the directions: 1. As you comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn’t matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember! 2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don’t want to play on your blog, or if you don’t have a blog, I’ll leave my memory of you in my comments.

I have a teenager…..yes, I do. I have seen her grow up fast before my eyes. All of a sudden, the phone has become attatched to her ear. I remember when I was a teenager, I was not allowed to call anyone 9 and God forbid if my phone rang after that time! Well, I am now having to be the “mean mom” and tell her that phone time is over @ 9. I mean seriously, what in the world are they talking about anyway????
Now, there is another thing that my mom didn’t have to worry about when I was a teen…..text messaging. I love texting because sometimes if you only have to ask 1 question, it is easier to text than to call someone and be on the phone too long. Amy loves to text too! LOL I don’t mind her texting as long as she is not doing it after bedtime…..if she does (and I will find out!) she will lose her phone.
I showed her one day that I can pull up our account activity online and see exactly what time she is on the phone, who she was talking to and when she sends or recieves a text. She was amazed. I hope all parents of teens realize that they can monitor their child’s phone usage….keep them safe!

The joys (????) of parenting a teeneger. Gotta love it!

We are on our way home from church now. I worked in the Rangers office doing record keeping while William worked with the Discovery Rangers which is the class Andrew is in. Alex was in his class (Adventure Rangers) and Amy was in youth. William and the boys will be going to Pow Wow in a couple of weeks.

I think the Rangers program is great and I want to help the boys earn a lot of merits. They get to do all kinds of really cool things while learning about God. For more information about the TN Rangers, you can go to their website at www.tnrangers.org
I guess that is all for now. We are home and I need to go make the children go to bed.
